KLOTZ NewsletterJanuar 2016
Dear readers,

As a sunny start to the New Year, the NAMM Show is just around the corner, and Anaheim will be the centre of the world of music from 21 – 24 January 2016.
If you’re planning to be there, make sure you drop by to see us at our stand!

And artists who find the hustle and bustle of a trade fair is too loud can test our new products exclusively at the Gear Preview in the run-up to the NAMM Show.

We’re often asked whether aluminium, silver or copper is the better choice for conductors.
Well, aluminium is cheaper, but has poor conductivity. But there are other reasons why copper is the material of choice for electrical conductors.

Informative and fascinating – KLOTZ announces a new publication! Our new “Musician & Studio” Catalogue is now available.

Our ever-popular print catalogues really come into their own when they’re complemented by the electronic version. So all KLOTZ Catalogues are now available in ePaper versions.

Our VHLS Cables represent a giant stride towards UHD - the perfect choice for mobile applications in the rental and broadcast sector.

We wish you good health through the winter – see you next time!

NAMM Show Gear Preview
Many stars and artists find the NAMM Show is too loud and hectic to try out new products in peace and quiet. No problem – that’s what the Gear Preview is for!

Two days before the NAMM Show opens its doors, artists are invited to attend a special preview in a spacious, welcoming studio complex, where they can check out all the latest equipment and test it to their hearts’ content without being disturbed. Our Artists & Friends (www.klotz-ais.com/artists) will also be present.

UHD
Not so very long ago, HD was still a far-off vision of the future. Now HD is here and now, and a part of our daily lives.

So we’re looking one step ahead – to UHD. Our VHLS Cables are designed for high-res HD SDI signals in mobile environments (rental and broadcast).

In challenging mobile applications, it’s essential to get the externals right too: with highly abrasion-resistant PUR outer jacket, two successive ultra-dense copper braided shields and highly flexible inner conductor, our VHLS Cables combine ruggedness with flexibility for drum storage.

UHD? Bring it on!

Know How
Copper vs. Aluminium vs. Silver
We are often asked, “What’s better – aluminium or copper?” And what about silver?

After all, aluminium basically has far lower electrical conductivity than copper, and the complexities of processing aluminium and its sensitivity – particularly to contact with oxygen – are powerful discouragements to its use for audio cables. On the other hand, the benefits of using ultra-lightweight aluminium are extremely clear in applications such as high-voltage cables.

The reason why silver is so rarely used despite its slightly better conductivity is simply and solely the price; while 1 kg Cu costs around 4.20 €, 1 kg Ag costs approximately 450 €!
