Hello,
Have you already seen GetInfo’s new databases? We will introduce them to you in this issue.
You can also read news about the TIB network and see Goportis in Hamburg.
Enjoy reading! Your GetInfo team
GetInfo is a service by:
|
GetInfo has integrated two new specialised databases

• Through the integration of PROBADO 3D, it is now possible to search for 3D models from the field of architecture in GetInfo. The models can support you with brainstorming for your own designs and can be easily integrated into your CAD plans. The search for 3D models is initially text-based and can then be continued visually. PROBADO 3D is integrated into GetInfo as an "external database" and is individually selectable via "database selection".
The PROBADO 3D project for the indexing and searching of 3D models is a service provided by the TIB and is being realised in collaboration with the Darmstadt University of Technology, the University of Bonn and the Graz University of Technology. PROBADO 3D is being funded by the German Research Foundation in the field of "centres for research information".
• You have free access to more than 651,000 electronic full texts from the fields of physics, mathematics, statistics, computer science and quantitative biology via the Open Access platform, arXiv, in GetInfo. arXiv is also integrated into GetInfo as an "external database" and will be automatically searched during your search; it is also individually selectable via "database selection".
The Open Access platform, arXiv, is operated by the Cornell University Library. The TIB, the Max Planck Society and the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres are jointly supporting Cornell University Library in the development of its long-term business model.

The TIB is increasing its Pay-per-View selection in GetInfo
In GetInfo’s specialised portal, you can find all the journals, as well as all the digitally-available conference proceedings, from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) publisher’s selection as a Pay-per-View offer.
This comprehensive electronic selection offers you the most up-to-date editions in the best possible reading quality. For its commercial customers, the TIB’s Pay-per-View service offers a price advantage of about 10% in comparison to traditional email delivery. Individuals from companies which have their own publishers’ licences will be directed straight to the respective article via the "Access for subscribers" button. [more]

TIB is supporting Open Access
The TIB actively supports the Open Access principle and has recently put the bibliographical data it has collected for the catalogue on the internet. The data has been made available under the creative commons licences - attribution - non-commercial 3.0 Germany; this means that the data can be downloaded, modified and used for personal, i.e. non-commercial purposes.
More information can be found under "Open Data Service" on the TIB homepage.

The TIB Network News
The TIB is collaborating with WTI-Frankfurt eG
The TIB is collaborating with the newly-established WTI-Frankfurt eG and is thus ensuring access to the specialised databases TEMA, CEABA/VtB, DKF, INSPEC and RSWB. These databases can, as usual, be selected via "database selection" in GetInfo and integrated into your search.
The WTI (Wissenschaftlich-Technische Information - Scientific & Technical Information) was established at the beginning of this year from the insolvent Fachinformationszentrum Technik e.V.
DataCite is now also on the Social Web
You can follow DataCite developments on the social web. The managing director, Dr. Jan Brase, sends regular updates.

"Goportis Digital Preservation Summit" Conference in Hamburg, Autumn 2011
One of the aims of Goportis, the Leibniz Library Network for Research Information, is to offer an international specialised conference on pertinent topics every year.
This year, the theme of the Goportis Conference is "Digital Preservation" and it will be taking place in Hamburg on the 19th and 20th October 2011.
During the conference, international experts will present and discuss their practical experiences. The foci are "preparation", "selection and policies", as well as the "ingest" of digital preservation.
Goportis is the Leibniz Library Network for Research Information and is the main contact partner for the competence fields of full text services, licences, non-textual materials, digital preservation and Open Access.
PROBADO 3D: Successful Appearance at CeBIT 2011
The PROBADO 3D project for the indexing and searching of 3D models, which was presented at the joint Lower Saxony stand, was met with great interest by visitors to the exhibition.

The Minister of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, Professor Johanna Wanka, and Heiko Gevers (Head of the Department of Research and Innovation) gather information about the practical application of PROBADO 3D from Ina Blümel (TIB).
