| Main Topic - China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) | |
|
| |
| |
| | According to GTAI, more than 2,000 years ago goods were traded on the ancient Silk Road between China and Europe. Today, these transport routes should be revived. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) would create a huge economic zone between Asia and Europe. More than 60 states in Asia, Africa and Europe, and thus almost two-thirds of the world's population, are involved. The plan would consist of two main transport routes from China to Europe: on the one hand, the Silk Road economic belt ("Belt") by land; on the other, the maritime Silk Road of the 21st century ("Road") by sea. Just like the traditional Silk Road, it would be a network of routes through which goods could be transported by road, rail or ship between Asia, Africa and Europe. More. . .

| |
| | According to the “China goes West” strategy of the central government, BME and its partner IAIT will host the third Belt and Road Congress in Chengdu, enabling German companies to identify suppliers in this region and to become familiar with the Belt and Road Initiative of the Chinese government. Chinese as well as German companies and suppliers need to develop new competitiveness rather than low costs. This one-and-a-half-day event is an intense and constructive conference on the topics of “Industry 4.0” and the opportunities of the “New Silk Road”. Representatives of industrial companies and Chinese supplier and governmental institutions share their ideas and points of view regarding the future supply chain structure. More. . . | The IHS Markit/BME Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) provides a general overview of the economic situation of the German industry. The index has been published under the auspices of BME since 1996. It is compiled by IHS Markit, a provider of corporate, financial and economic information headquartered in London, and is based on a survey of 500 purchasing managers/managers of the manufacturing industry in Germany (selected representatively of the German economy by sector, size and region). The PMI is modelled after the US Purchasing Managers Index (Markit U.S.-PMI). The value of the purchasing manager index is indisputable: the European Central Bank (ECB) has explicitly emphasized its informational content. The IHS Markit / BME Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) is published monthly in PDF format by email. It is available for an annual subscription. More. . .
