DAAD in Kathmandu and Colombo!

From 5–8 May, Team DAAD will be in Kathmandu, visiting leading institutions such as Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University and Nepal University. Engagements with partner organisations like German Embassy Kathmandu, Goethe-Zentrum Kathmandu and interactions with Germany alumni are also planned, which will create valuable opportunities for meaningful exchange between DAAD and local institutions.
The final day will feature the Falling Walls Lab at the Kathmandu University, where 14 finalists who have identified pressing challenges in their respective fields will present practical, innovative and well-structured solutions before a distinguished jury and audience.

At the end of month, the DAAD delegation will visit Colombo, where a similar programme of university visits, institutional meetings, Falling Walls Lab and networking engagements is planned. These interactions aim to strengthen academic partnerships further, encourage dialogue, and open up new avenues for collaboration and student mobility between Germany and Sri Lanka.

Meet our Young Ambassadors who received the DAAD PhD Scholarship

I am Ishika Agrawal and I am currently a PhD student at Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Germany, specializing in Organic Synthesis. Through the DAAD Research Grants, I found the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research while being part of a vibrant academic community. The collaborative research environment, along with the opportunity to interact with international scholars, has broadened my perspective as a scientist and as an individual.
I am Arpita Kannihalli, pursuing a Ph.D. in neuroscience at LMU Munich as a DAAD doctoral fellow. A Ph.D. at LMU is highly enriching, providing access to a world-leading research environment that fosters innovation and collaboration. As a DAAD Young Ambassador I aim to inspire students to pursue their academic dreams abroad.
I am Tanmoy Sil, I am Tanmoy Sil, currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Neurology at Universitätsklinikum Würzburg, focusing on movement disorders research, particularly Parkinson’s disease. I completed my bachelor’s degree from West Bengal University of Technology and my master’s from the University of Southern California before moving to Germany.
