German Chancellor visits India
|
|
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to India marks a significant moment in the deepening partnership between the two countries, particularly in the field of higher education. The discussions focused on expanding academic mobility, strengthening institutional partnerships, and aligning higher education with evolving industry and technological needs. A key outcome of the visit was the finalisation of a comprehensive roadmap to deepen cooperation in the education sector. Speaking after the talks, Prime Minister Modi said the roadmap on higher education would give a new direction to bilateral ties in the academic field. He also invited German universities to set up campuses in India. Chancellor Merz’s visit reinforced higher education as a cornerstone of the India–Germany strategic partnership, with long-term benefits for both nations.
