German Funded Programmes in Southern Africa

The DAAD’s African-German Centre of Excellence for Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems and Applied Agricultural and Food Data Science (UKUDLA), welcomed its first cohort of scholarship holders at the University of the Western Cape. UKUDLA focuses on training young agricultural and nutrition researchers whilst ensuring research findings reach industry, government and communities across southern Africa. Various scholarship calls are now open, offering opportunities for both German and African candidates.

The DAAD Team had the opportunity to travel to KwaZulu-Natal to host an informative session to the students at the Hermannsburg School. Located near Greytown, Hermannsburg was founded in 1856 by German missionaries and has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence and cultural exchange.
