Where to stay?

There are plenty of choices in Lisbon. These range from international chains such as Intercontinental, Sheraton, Marriott, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Wyndham, Accor, Hilton, Minor and Corinthia, to Portuguese chains such as Sana Hotels, Pestana, Tivoli, Heritage, Altis, Porto Bay and Vila Galé.

That’s just to name a few – there are many more to choose from. The city of Lisbon has a total of 215 hotels with 21,907 rooms and 40,185 beds. The wider Lisbon region has 319 hotels with 30,337 rooms and 50,768 beds.

How to get there?

Access is easy as we have a multitude of direct airline connections and the top carriers flying to Lisbon. The airport is served by all major airlines with daily non-stop connections to all major European cities as well as the US, South America and Africa (more than 50 destinations). Lisbon is just a short flight – one to three hours – from most European cities, and it is only five to eight hours from North American airports. Lisbon airport is centrally located, with a short 15 minute transfer from the city centre and a 30 to 45 minute drive to Cascais or Sintra.

Do you offer any special services/assistance for associations?

The Lisboa Convention Bureau offers impartial advice and assistance to event organisers. Services include bid preparation, coordination of site inspections, innovative ideas for social programmes and identification of suitable venues for events.

We provide free services during the bidding stage, such as:

Some of the largest DMC's and PCO's are members of the Lisboa Convention Bureau as well as of ICCA - International Congress & Convention Association. Their teams of experienced, knowledgeable and creative staff guarantee the best quality/price ratio. To assist you with the organisation of an event/congress, we offer to provide contact with, or forward your request to, three member companies that will propose their services without any commitment.

The recommended members of the Lisboa Convention Bureau supply the following services:

Do you have any personal recommendations or insider tips for Lisbon?

Lisbon is a cosmopolitan "resort city" with a long history, in a unique region. The resort of Cascais, the romantic village of Sintra (a World Heritage Site), and Arrábida Mountain and Nature Reserve Area are just 45 minutes away.

From championship golf courses to excellent shopping and world class gastronomy, there is a staggering choice of incentive activities on offer in the city and the surrounding ocean, beaches, mountains and rivers for your clients.

Some suggestions in the historic centre of Lisbon include:

+ Alfama/Castelo/Mouraria: Charming ancient Moorish quarters with narrow winding streets and picturesque white-washed houses, crowned by St. George’s Castle.

+ Bairro Alto is traditionally Lisbon’s nightlife hub! During the day it’s a sort of bazaar with designer shops you won’t find anywhere else in the city.

+ Baixa/Chiado (downtown) adds a special touch to Lisbon’s ambiance. Traditionally, it’s the city’s shopping hub and a unique place for leisurely walks. Don’t miss Praça do Comércio, the magnificent “Black Horse” Square with its Triumphal Arch facing the River Tagus, the Cathedral and the Carmo ruins.

Some incentive activity suggestions:

+ Get to know the city on board a vintage tram. Your tram may be traditional yellow or bright red, with upholstered seats and velvet curtains, and even offer a wine tasting service.

+ The view from the river Tagus will give you a completely different idea of the city built on the hills. During a cruise of one and a half to two hours, Lisbon offers a variety of silhouettes, from the medieval Cathedral and Castle to XVIIIth century Royal Palaces and its monumental bridges.

+ Rally das Tascas: A fun-filled rally through Lisbon! Clients will visit all the relevant locales and they will savour typical Lisbon drinks.
