New Infomation Platform www.eventcrisis.org (so far in German Only)
GCB & tw tagungswirtschaft are jointly launching the information platform www.eventcrisis.org. Aimed at business event professionals, it provides informative multimedia content for events during a crisis. Current news available in Englisch:
 
•  The GCB and the "Strategic Alliance of National Convention Bureaux of Europe" conduct a study with Oxford Economics on various coronavirus scenarios for Europe as a meeting destination. Results in April.
 
•  The European Commission has launched the "Coronavirus Response Investment Initiative"
•  PCMA offers a training to become a "Digital Event Strategist" (DES). The DES certification is designed to help you effectively plan, produce and measure the results of your live stream and digital engagement events.
•  MPI Webinar: How To Convert Your In-Person Event Into A Virtual Event on April 01, 2020
•  Virtual Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), a full-day online summit on April 14, 2020
 
Bocom
BOCOM is moved to 3 September 2020
On 23 April 2020, "BOCOM - Experience Borderless Communication" was to be held as an innovative test lab and spatially distributed congress. However, due to the dynamic spread of the coronavirus, we have now decided to postpone the event in close cooperation with our partners. The project is funded by the DBU and scientifically supported by the Fraunhofer IAO. The main objective of this research is to investigate a hybrid event, i.e. to compare aspects of an online event with live aspects and to derive recommendations. All this research would not be feasible with a pure online event and therefore we decided against this option. We are already looking forward to getting BOCOM rolling at its new date on September 3rd! We are convinced: Together we will overcome this crisis and rock the future of events with many fresh ideas.

The GCB Brought 14 Suppliers to Successful Meetings University in February
Last month, the German Convention Bureau collaborated with 14 German Suppliers to promote Europe’s leading MICE destination at this year’s Successful Meetings University New York City. We connected with pre-selected planners through one-on-one appointments, as well as during fabulous network opportunities. Lufthansa Group achieves A Top Position Among Airlines in CDP Climate Protection Ranking 2019
The Lufthansa Group has achieved the Climate Scoring result "B" in the 2019 climate change reporting of the non-profit rating organisation CDP. As in the previous year, the airline group is thus once again listed in the second highest ranking band and thus occupies one of the top positions among the airlines. CDP conducts the world's largest annual climate ranking.
