Study on the impact of coronavirus on European convention sector
The Strategic Alliance of the National Convention Bureaux of Europe has published an update of its 2020 study on “the impact of coronavirus on Europe’s convention sector”. The report, prepared by Tourism Economics, provides three recovery scenarios to reflect the possible range of developments given the level of uncertainty about how the pandemic situation will evolve over the coming months.

Kelly Gallagher, Director of Marketing and Partner at Canvas, talked to Matthias Schultze, Managing Director of the GCB, about how she faces the challenge to create and plan exceptional business events. IMEX launches new digital platform IMEX BuzzHub
The IMEX Group has launched a new digital platform to create a buzz among the global business meetings and events community. The IMEX BuzzHub is made for meeting & event professionals worldwide. You can choose from a variety of activities and sessions, crafted by extensive customer research, IMEX agencies, partners, and other experts. The platform is open from May to September.

Test lab BOCOM:
What we‘ve learned – Part 2
Last year, the GCB and partners organized the hybrid, multi-site and international “BOCOM – Experience Borderless Communication” congress to test what events of the future might look like. The event included a research project that not only assessed the attendees’ interaction but also the event’s overall environmental impact. The results show that hybrid and multi-site formats can be good solutions for sustainable events that guarantee very good knowledge transfer.

Kick-Off: “Germany – at the heart of future events“
The GCB’s summer campaign centered on Germany as a meetings destination kicks-off in just a few days. From June 1 on, our “Roaming Reporter“ will take you on a digital journey and report live on social media from as many as 12 destinations. In the GCB Virtual Venue, you will get to know event suppliers virtually and have the opportunity to hold 1:1 conversations. Our Education Days in the second half of June will offer a wide range of online lectures and discussions on hot topics of the meetings industry. Results of the Meeting- & EventBarometer 2020/2021
The German National Tourist Board (GNTB), the EVVC European Association of Event Centres and the GCB German Convention Bureau have presented the results of the new "Meeting- & EventBarometer 2020/2021". The findings confirm how the events sector is changing as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and reveals that the industry is currently in a transitional phase towards a new normal.
