| TOP 150-BLH telescopic optical probe Telescopic optical probes of the TOP series from Instrument Systems for radiance and luminance measurement ensure constant light transmission in the fiber. They thus guarantee reproducible measurement results, even when the length of the fiber is changed. The new version TOP 150-BLH was specially designed for standardized and practical measurements of blue light hazard (BLH) and is characterized by a 7 mm aperture positioned on the objective lens.

| In trend: New applications in light measurement
| |
|
| Eliminating blue light hazard The newly developed Technical Report IEC TR 62778 on photobiological safety describes practical methods for assessing the blue light hazard of LED light sources. Our systems comprising spectroradiometer, telescopic optical probes and analysis software conduct direct spectral radiance measurements and divide the light sources into the four risk groups prescribed in the standard.

| Improving automated testing steps in LED production Short lifecycles and the diversity of LEDs, SSL luminaires and displays present new challenges to production lines. They must be more complex, faster and nevertheless more convenient in operation. Automated tests in LED production are significantly improved by temperature-stabilized sensors in the measuring equipment and parameterizing of the consecutive measurement steps.

| Traceable calibration for decentralized comparability of measurement results Manufacturer’s specifications for luminance and color coordinates often relate to absolute values. The light meters used must be adjusted with the aid of calibration standards and traceable to a national institute such as PTB or NIST. Only then can it be ensured that deviations in the values determined on a decentralized basis are due to uncertainties of the measuring instrument used. Traceable calibration of our array spectrometers is easy with the right calibration accessories and professional software. The program guides one step-by-step through the calibration process, guaranteeing correct radiometric measurement data.

| In combination with a spectrometer, the TOP 200 Telescopic Optical Probe permits precise spot measurements of radiance and luminance, as well as the chromaticity of displays, panel graphics and other light sources. A multimode fiber is used to guide the light radiation from the TOP 200 to the spectrometer.
