Dear Sir or Madam

Metrological traceability is a fundamental concept of calibration, for only a traceable reading guarantees precision. It is referenced to a recognized standard through an unbroken chain of comparative measurements with a known measurement uncertainty. That is why we also speak of the NIST or PTB traceability of a measurement result.

As a leading manufacturer of light measurement technology, we have always attached great importance to the metrological traceability of measurement results, and offer calibrated instruments with high absolute precision. We are actively engaged in numerous professional associations and organizations that ensure international uniform implementation of metrological traceability to the SI unit system. Instrument Systems was instrumental in the preparation of a new CIE Technical Report 250:2022 that provides a comprehensive overview of the relevant terminology and basic calibration of measuring instruments. For more information please read today’s Newsletter!

\\ NEW CIE REPORT 250:2022
cie report
Practical basic document on spectroradiometry, measurement uncertainties and instrument calibration

Under the direction of Instrument Systems, the Technical Committee TC2-80 of the CIE has prepared a new Technical Report on the spectroradiometric measurement of optical radiation sources. The document, now published as CIE 250:2022, supersedes the almost 40-year-old report CIE 063:1984. It contains a practice-oriented explanation of the basic measurement principles and provides practical guidance for the measurement of irradiance, radiation density, radiation intensity and radiant flux, as well as the calibration of measuring instruments. In addition, the report describes in detail the physical effects relevant to spectroradiometric measurements and in particular the estimation of measurement uncertainties.

Technical Report CIE 250:2022 can be purchased in the CIE online shop.

\\ LIVE: Topics and Events

27–28.09.22: SID Vehicle Displays Detroit – Visit two exciting lectures and our booth #602!

At the booth of our partner Konica Minolta Sensing Americas we will be presenting the latest 2D color measurement systems that also satisfy the requirements of “Display Specification for Automotive Application” in terms of spectroradiometric precision. The highlight at our booth will be the new 12 MP LumiCam 4000B.

On Wednesday 28 September we invite you to attend two symposium lectures in Session 5 “Display Metrology”:

11:40 AM -12:00 noon local time
“Fast 2D Display Testing with Spectrally Corrected Colorimeters”

12:00-12:20 PM local time
“VCSEL Characterization: LiDAR and Eye Safety Testing”

We look forward to a personal meeting at SID Vehicle Displays in Detroit!

2–6.10.22: Light+Building Frankfurt – Secure your ticket now!

Finally live again – after a 4-year break! At Light+Building 2022 in Frankfurt visitors to our booth in Hall 8.0 H38 will be able to view large-format measuring stations for goniometric, spectroradiometric and photometric measuring tasks. The highlights will be the new CAS 140D IR, that offers high productivity due to shorter measuring times in the infrared range, and the new LumiCam 4000B imaging colorimeter with a resolution of 12MP. Please also ask us about the high-precision, traceable calibration of all our measuring instruments!
