| | With its new production »Time Travellers«, the Rundfunkchor Berlin and it’s conductor Gijs Leenaars embarks on a journey through time, creating the next project in their series of interdisciplinary performances including »human requiem« and »LUTHER dancing with the gods«. For four nights, a horizon is opened that the choir as well as the audience will travel together. Music by Dove, Brahms and Debussy, a media production by Nick & Clemens Prokop and choreography by Shang-Chi Sun will tell the story of the becoming and passing of all things of life. A person reflects and looks back upon their life, with all its detours and branches, the small disputes and major battles and the joys along the way. Expressing an unquenched thirst for life, this person calls out: »O earth, return!« Could we start life all over again? As human beings, all of us are time travellers. However, not solely the reflection of the past is a central part of our thoughts, but also the future, with all its uncertainties. What gives us hope for the upcoming? Would we dare to travel forward in time? With »Time Travellers«, the Rundfunkchor Berlin opens up a further dimension of experi-encing music. The division between stage and auditorium is dissolved and the audience is placed right in the middle of actors and scenery. Images, space and sounds are woven into each other and invite the audience on a journey through their own life, engaging all their senses. »The Passing of the Year« by the British composer Jonathan Dove serves as the back-bone of the evening. The song cycle sets poems by William Blake, Emily Dickinson and other poets to music for two choirs and piano. In addition, music by Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy, John Dowland and Robert Heppener will be brought to life. » Press Release PDF » Time Travellers 1 (c) Photo: Rundfunkchor Berlin » Time Travellers 2 (c) Photo: Nick & Clemens Prokop » Time Travellers • Trailer
