DAAD's SDG Alumni Projects: Establishing networks and cooperation at eLearning Africa Conference in Kigali

DAAD’s SDG alumni projects projects aim to support experts from emerging and developing countries who have been trained in Germany in establishing contacts with scientific and business partners worldwide. These experts, recognized as DAAD alumni, receive further training at a German university or research institution, and then take part in trade fairs, industry conventions, or specialized conferences. The participants gain new insights, exchange experiences, establish networks, and initiate collaborative projects while staying abreast of the latest research and technologies.

Mental health: the unspoken pandemic

The Kenya DAAD Scholars Association (KDSA), in partnership with South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) in Kitui, held its first physical event in years from May 20-22, a three-day conference titled “Mental Health Pandemic among Kenyan Academia: Sharing Experiences and Building Resilience among the Odds.”

Refugees equipped to apply for the Leadership for Africa Scholarship Programme

The DAAD introduced a new scholarship programme “Leadership for Africa” (LfA) four years ago, with an aim of supporting young refugees and national scholars from selected countries to pursue their master’s degrees in Germany. This year, LfA applicants had to be citizens of either Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, or Uganda, or refugees residing in either of these countries.

DIES NMT Kenya Hosts Intriguing Workshop on Online Learning in an International Context

DIES National Multiplication Training (NMT) Kenya organized the 2nd training workshop, “The Role of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and Virtual Exchanges in promoting Internationalization at Home in Higher Academic Institutions in Kenya”, in June. The workshop was jointly organized by The University of Nairobi, Maseno University and Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in collaboration with experts from Leibniz University Hannover (Germany) and Kibabii University. DIES (NMT) is one of the courses within the DIES programme designed to empower DIES alumni in their roles as multipliers in higher education management and to enhance the sustainability of DIES trainings.”

DAAD strengthens German teacher training in sub-Saharan Africa

The DAAD is launching a digital competence network for German teachers in sub-Saharan African countries. With the “GFL- Competence Network Sub-Saharan Africa”, it is responding to the increased demand for German as a foreign language (GFL) and promoting the academic training of experienced German teachers.

Networking Forum „EU-Higher Education Cooperation between Germany and Eastern Africa
 
The Erasmus+ National Agency for Higher Education at DAAD and the DAAD Regional Office in Nairobi invite higher education representatives from Germany, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan to take part in Erasmus+ Networking Forum in Nairobi! 
 
The aim of the event is to strengthen higher education cooperation between Germany and Eastern Africa in Erasmus+. Selected higher education representatives from Germany will have the possibility to network with their colleagues from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan.

Topic: How do I apply through the DAAD Portal? 
 
In this session, practical tips on how to register an account will be given, as well as how to find the funding programme, how to work with online forms in the portal etc. Also, how to use reference management software to help writing a proposal.
